Planning a trip to Albania? If you're looking for breathtaking views, crystal-clear water, and unforgettable experiences without spending hundreds of pounds, these three locations deserve a place on your itinerary.

Whether you're travelling from the UK, India, or anywhere else, these attractions offer incredible value and memories that easily outshine some of Europe's most expensive destinations.

1. 360° Sunset View — Sarandë

One of the best sunset spots in Albania

Sarandë is already famous for its beautiful coastline, but very few tourists know about this stunning sunset viewpoint overlooking the Ionian Sea. The atmosphere becomes magical during the evening as the sun slowly disappears behind the mountains and reflects across the sea.

Best timeAfter 7 PM, summer
Pro tipArrive 3 hrs early
📍 How to get there
Location: Lëkurësi Castle (Kalaja e Lëkurësit), on the hill directly behind Sarandë town — the classic 360° sunset viewpoint over the bay, with Ksamil and Corfu visible in the distance.
From Sarandë: 3–4 km, about 10 minutes by car or taxi. The road winds up through the Qender neighbourhood — follow signs for "Kalaja e Lëkurësit."
On foot: Roughly a 45–60 minute uphill walk from the town centre — doable, but steep and hot in summer.
Parking: Free parking at the top.

If you'd like to sit and enjoy the view comfortably, simply order a drink from the restaurant inside the castle grounds — the best terrace seats fill up quickly, especially in July and August.

2. Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër)

Albania's most famous natural spring

The Blue Eye is one of Albania's most famous natural attractions. Its crystal-clear turquoise water creates the illusion of a giant blue eye, which is how it got its name.

📍 How to get there
Location: Near Muzinë village, Finiq municipality — on the main road between Sarandë and Gjirokastër.
From Sarandë: Around 22 km, about 30–40 minutes by car or taxi. Follow the highway toward Gjirokastër — signs for "Syri i Kaltër" mark the turnoff, followed by a ~2 km unpaved forest road to the car park.
By bus: Take a furgon (shared minibus) from central Sarandë heading to Gjirokastër and ask the driver to stop at "Syri i Kaltër" — then it's a 15–20 minute walk from the drop-off to the spring.
Fees: Small per-car and per-person cash charges apply at the entrance and car park.

Nobody knows its exact depth

Professional divers have explored the spring to over 50 metres (164 feet), but the true bottom remains unknown. Swimming is currently prohibited to help protect this unique natural environment — but the surrounding walkways and viewpoints make it well worth the visit.

3. Hand of Ksamil

Albania's viral Instagram spot

The Hand of Ksamil has become one of the most photographed locations in southern Albania. Situated right on the beach, the giant hand sculpture attracts thousands of visitors every summer — it's the perfect place for travel photos, reels and drone shots.
